Overview

DaVinci Sub Translator takes a subtitle track you already have in DaVinci Resolve and translates it automatically through an online service. It works with Google, Microsoft, and DeepL, and with a range of LLM AI providers, so you can match the engine to the language or to the quality you need on a given job.

When a translation finishes, the plugin writes the result into the first empty subtitle track on your timeline, which keeps the whole multilingual pass inside Resolve instead of exporting an SRT, translating it elsewhere, and importing it back by hand. It translates rather than generates, so you still need captions on the timeline first. The DeepL and AI engines may need your own API key, and it is sold on Ko-fi pay-what-you-want from $2.88.

Pros

  • Translates entire subtitle tracks automatically, no manual copy-paste
  • Works with Google, Microsoft, and DeepL, plus a range of LLM AI providers
  • Inserts the translated track into the first empty subtitle track for you
  • Very low cost, pay what you want starting at $2.88
  • Flexible provider choice for different languages and budgets

Cons

  • Relies on online translation services, so it needs an internet connection
  • AI and DeepL providers may require your own API key
  • Focused on translation only, not caption generation or styling
  • Sold through Ko-fi without a dedicated support portal

Verdict

At $2.88 pay-what-you-want, this is close to free, and it does one narrow job: translating a subtitle track you already have. It's not a caption generator, so you need another tool upstream to create the original captions, and support is whatever you can get through a Ko-fi page rather than a real support system.
